The Summit: When AI Gets a Soft Touch

Walking into the India AI Impact Summit on February 17‑18 in New Delhi, the energy was palpable. I witnessed a collaborative robot (cobot) respond to natural‑language prompts, picking up objects with advanced pressure sensors and AI‑driven tactile feedback. The “softness” of its handling—delicate items were moved without breaking—highlighted how AI can blend precision with care.

At the Google booth I moved from observer to creator, experimenting with generative‑AI prompts to produce a piece of digital art. Seeing my creation displayed on the Smart Wall was a reminder that even in the era of massive models, there’s room for individual expression.

The Power of Community: Conversations at Khoj and The Lalit

As the sun set, the focus shifted from “what” we build to “how” we build it responsibly. At Khoj Studios, during the Wiki Public AI event, participants discussed the intersection of technology and responsibility, emphasizing AI as a tool for public good.

Later, at the Google Cloud Community Mixer held at The Lalit, conversations became more personal. These informal exchanges—beyond the stage—are where long‑term collaborations often begin.

Beyond the Screen: How a Chance Meeting with Anaconda’s Co‑founder Redefined My Path

The final chapter unfolded at the AKRA Hotel. I spent time with Nivas and Tanveer Hasan, diving deep into the Wikicontest tool I’m developing. Their feedback, together with insights from Nitesh, gave me a clear roadmap for new features.

A highlight was a long discussion with Peter Wang, co‑founder of Anaconda. We compared architectural trade‑offs between Django and Flask for different project requirements—an invaluable validation of my path as a developer.

A Note of Gratitude

These experiences would not have been possible without the community’s support. Special thanks to Ankit Kumar Verma, IIIT Hyderabad Wiki project coordinator, for enabling my participation and facilitating connections with brilliant minds.

These two days were about more than learning new technology; they were about finding my place within a global community of builders who care about the future.
