Samsung updates Bixby to become more conversational
Source: Engadget
Overview
Samsung has launched the latest version of Bixby with the One UI 8.5 beta, positioning it as a “conversational agent.” The update lets users speak to Bixby using natural language, similar to how they would interact with people or modern chatbots, without needing to remember exact commands or setting names.
Conversational Capabilities
- Natural‑language tasks – Users can describe what they want, e.g., “I don’t want the screen to time out while I’m still looking at it,” and Bixby will enable the Keep Screen on While Viewing setting automatically.
- Contextual troubleshooting – Asking questions such as “Why is my phone screen always on when it’s inside my pocket?” prompts Bixby to suggest multiple possible solutions.
- Web‑integrated searches – Bixby can fetch up‑to‑date information from the web and display results directly within its interface, eliminating the need to open a separate browser.
Availability
The updated Bixby is currently available in:
- South Korea (Samsung’s home market)
- Germany
- India
- Poland
- United Kingdom
- United States
Samsung plans to roll the feature out to additional regions in the future.
