TL;DR

  • Motorola has revealed the MA2, successor to its original MA1 wireless Android Auto adapter.
  • The new adapter adds multipoint support, letting two phones pair and switch easily in shared cars.
  • It launches in May, with US availability slated for Q3 2026 at around $40.

Introduction

On the sidelines of MWC 2026, Motorola showcased its new Android Auto wireless adapter, the MA2, at the ShowStoppers booth. It is the direct successor to the company’s original MA1 adapter.

How It Works

The MA2 converts a car’s wired Android Auto system into a wireless one.

  • Wireless connection: 5 GHz Wi‑Fi carries Android Auto data.
  • Pairing: Bluetooth handles initial pairing and automatic reconnection.

The device plugs into the car’s existing Android Auto USB port, after which the phone pairs via Bluetooth and Android Auto runs wirelessly.

New Features

  • Multipoint support: Can pair with two phones simultaneously, allowing drivers to switch devices with a single button press.
  • On/off switch: Prevents unwanted connections and battery drain in vehicles with always‑on USB ports.
  • LED indicator: Shows connection status at a glance.
  • Detachable cables: Includes both USB‑A and USB‑C cables for broader vehicle compatibility; users can also use their own cable.
  • Flat, square design: A slimmer black box compared to the “squircle” shape of the MA1.

Pricing & Availability

Motorola is targeting a launch price of around $40, positioning the MA2 as a more affordable alternative to devices like the AAWireless Two.

  • Launch date: May 2026
  • US availability: Expected in Q3 2026
