USB‑C Port Differences

  • Left USB‑C port – supports USB 3 speeds up to 10 Gb/s.
  • Right USB‑C port (near the trackpad) – limited to USB 2 speeds of 480 Mb/s.

Apple states that external‑display connectivity is available only on the left port.

macOS Alert for Incorrect Port

The ports are unlabeled, which can be inconvenient. Daring Fireball’s John Gruber notes that if you connect an external display to the wrong (right‑hand) port, macOS will display an alert prompting you to use the other port.

External Display Support

The MacBook Neo can drive one external display with up to 4K resolution at 60 Hz.
