Rollout Overview

Google has completely rolled out its new gradient Workspace icons on Android, iOS, and the web.

The new icons started rolling out the day before I/O 2026 on May 18, beginning with the web. All Workspace apps on iOS were updated by May 26. As of today, the rollout is finished on Android for Gmail, Google Calendar, Tasks, Chat, Meet, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Keep, and Voice. Google Forms, Sites, and Vids also have the new icons, though those services lack dedicated mobile applications.

On Android, Gmail was the last app to receive the update. While the app’s shape remains unchanged and the status‑bar icon is the same, the logo now includes more red to improve visibility.

Design Details

These icons join the newer designs for Google Search, Gemini, Google Home, Photos, Maps, Wallet, and Health.

According to the official announcement, the logos reflect the Gemini Era with a subtle gradient. Except for Gmail (the largest service in the suite), the new icons do not use all four Google colors. Drive is an exception, featuring three distinct colors, while the other apps each use a single primary hue.

The redesign also gives each icon a unique shape, moving away from the previous set where several icons shared the same page‑shaped container. Google’s goal was to give “every app a more distinct identity” that is “recognizable on your screen.”
