Samsung is expected to launch its new Galaxy Watch 9 next month, and ahead of that the Samsung Health app is getting a big redesign with lots of AI.
Following the new Google Health rollout last month and as the company gears up for its next smartwatch, Samsung Health is getting one of its biggest updates in recent memory. The update, which starts rolling out on June 8, turns Samsung Health into an “AI‑powered health platform” with several key additions.
First, Vitals is a one‑stop shop for heart rate, heart‑rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood‑oxygen stats so you can easily see if anything is out of the ordinary at a glance.
A Heart Health Score is also being added, based on factors such as sleep, stress, activity, and body‑composition data.

Daily Cardio Load will measure “accumulated cardiovascular strain” throughout the day to help users hit their activity goals, with the app setting targets for users to reach.
Finally, the Fitness Index will analyze metrics such as heart rate, VO₂ max (a key measure of aerobic fitness), and daily steps against users’ peers to gauge exercise efficacy. It shows an overall score and breaks the score down into strength, flexibility, endurance, cardio, and body‑composition sectors.

Samsung teases that this new Health app is the start of a new future for the company’s fitness efforts, “a future that will be fully realized with the launch of Samsung’s next generation of Galaxy watches, engineered to bring proactive intelligence to life like never before.”
While details on the Galaxy Watch 9 are still scarce, this redesign is Samsung’s first hint at a fitness‑focused, AI‑centric wearable. All of these new features leverage AI, underscoring the direction Samsung (like everyone else) is headed.
