Google expands tools for removing sensitive information from search results
Google is expanding its tools for removing sensitive information and nonconsensual images from its search results. The company announced that you can now use its “results about you” tool to request removal of:
- Driver’s license numbers
- Passports
- Social Security numbers
- Phone numbers
- Addresses
When you add your information to the “results about you” tool, Google will display search results that contain your data and give you the option to request removal. Google states that the information entered into the tool is protected with advanced encryption. You can also sign up to receive notifications when Google detects new instances of your data in search results.
