TL;DR

  • Samsung Galaxy phones offer granular connectivity options for multiple SIM cards internationally, but not in the US.
  • With One UI 8.5, Samsung appears to finally be bringing these same settings to America.
  • Users will be able to choose their SIM preference for phone calls, text messages, and cellular data.

Introduction

We are just days away from Galaxy Unpacked, where Samsung is expected to introduce the new Galaxy S26 series and its latest Galaxy Buds 4 earbuds.

Beyond the hardware, the event should also mark the formal arrival of the company’s One UI 8.5 system software. After months of beta builds for the S25, we wanted to highlight a subtle but useful change that has gone largely unnoticed.

International vs. US SIM Settings

International Galaxy users have long been able to configure a phone equipped with multiple SIMs to use specific ones for calls, texts, and data. In the US, Samsung has not offered the same level of control—until now.

One UI 8.5 Brings SIM Selection to the US

With the new software, US Galaxy users will see options for configuring which SIM should be used for each function.

Using multiple SIMs has always been more popular abroad, but the practice is gaining acceptance in the US, making this update timely.

Availability

  • Current beta: Only available for Galaxy S25‑series handsets.
  • Future rollout: Expected to expand to 2025 foldables and, after the official Galaxy S26 launch, to existing Galaxy owners who were not part of the beta program.

If you’ve been struggling with the lack of multiple‑SIM options, relief should arrive soon.
