충북 청주 소재 딥테크 스타트업 하이온은 오는 17일부터 20일까지 프랑스 파리에서 열리는 ‘비바테크(VivaTech) 2026’에서 ‘Tech For Change TOP400’ 기업으로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
비바테크가 운영하는 ‘Tech For Change’는 기술 혁신과 사회·환경적 가치를 동시에 추구하는 스타트업을 선정하는 공식 인증 프로그램이다. 올해는 전 세계 수많은 참가 기업 가운데 400개사가 선정됐으며, 하이온은 DeepTech·R&D 분야 인증 기업으로 이름을 올렸다.

AI 데이터센터 발열 해결하는 곤충 기반 냉각유
하이온은 음식물 쓰레기를 먹고 자라는 곤충 ‘동애등에’에서 추출한 지질을 활용해 바이오 에스터 기반 액침냉각유를 개발하고 있다.
액침냉각은 서버를 냉각액에 직접 담가 열을 식히는 방식으로, AI 데이터센터와 고성능 컴퓨팅(HPC) 환경에서 차세대 냉각 기술로 주목받고 있다. AI 모델 규모가 커질수록 전력 사용량과 발열이 급증하면서 기존 공랭식 냉각 방식의 한계를 보완할 기술로 평가받는다.
하이온은 100% 생분해가 가능한 친환경 냉각유를 개발해 환경성과 성능을 동시에 확보하는 데 집중하고 있다. 회사 측에 따르면 현재 샘플 제작을 완료했으며, 기존 석유계 냉각액과 비교해 동급 이상의 성능을 확인했다. 특히 열을 흡수하는 능력을 의미하는 비열은 기존 제품보다 1.5배 이상 높은 수준을 기록했다.
에어리퀴드 협업 이어 글로벌 시장 공략
하이온은 이번 비바테크 참가를 통해 글로벌 기업 및 투자사와의 협업 기회를 확대할 계획이다. 허희 대표와 강용모 이사가 현장을 방문해 유럽 기업과 투자자들을 대상으로 기술 소개와 사업 협의를 진행한다.
회사는 앞서 중소벤처기업부의 ‘글로벌 기업 협업 프로그램’에 선정돼 프랑스 산업가스 기업 에어리퀴드와 공동 연구개발(R&D)을 추진하고 있다. 이번 비바테크 참가 역시 해외 시장 진출을 위한 중요한 계기가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
허희 하이온 대표는 “비바테크는 글로벌 기업과 투자자들이 모이는 유럽 최대 기술 행사”라며 “차세대 액침냉각 기술을 글로벌 시장에 알리고 2027년 북미 빅테크 데이터센터 공급을 목표로 사업을 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Amidst fierce competition in cooling technology due to the proliferation of AI data centers, a Korean startup developing eco-friendly insect-derived liquid immersion coolant is set to take the stage at Europe’s largest technology exhibition.
Hion, a deep tech startup based in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, announced that it has been selected as one of the ‘Tech For Change TOP 400’ companies at ‘VivaTech 2026,’ which will be held in Paris, France from the 17th to the 20th.
‘Tech For Change,’ operated by VivaTech, is an official certification program that selects startups that simultaneously pursue technological innovation and social and environmental values. This year, 400 companies were selected from among numerous participants worldwide, and HION was named a certified company in the DeepTech and R&D fields.

Insect-based coolant to solve AI data center heat generation
Hion is developing a bioester-based liquid immersion coolant using lipids extracted from black soldier flies, insects that feed on food waste.
Immersion cooling is a method of cooling servers by directly immersing them in a coolant, and it is attracting attention as a next-generation cooling technology in AI data centers and high-performance computing (HPC) environments. It is regarded as a technology that complements the limitations of existing air cooling methods, as power consumption and heat generation surge as AI models grow in size.
Hion is focusing on securing both environmental performance and efficiency by developing an eco-friendly coolant that is 100% biodegradable. According to the company, sample production has been completed, and performance equivalent to or better than existing petroleum-based coolants has been confirmed. In particular, the specific heat, which refers to the ability to absorb heat, was recorded at a level more than 1.5 times higher than that of existing products.
Targeting the global market following the collaboration with Air Liquide
HION plans to expand collaboration opportunities with global companies and investors through its participation in VivaTech. CEO Heo Hee and Director Kang Yong-mo will visit the site to present their technology and hold business discussions with European companies and investors.
The company was previously selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ ‘Global Corporate Collaboration Program’ and is pursuing joint research and development (R&D) with the French industrial gas company Air Liquide. It is also expected that its participation in VivaTech will serve as an important opportunity for entering overseas markets.
“VivaTech is Europe’s largest technology event where global companies and investors gather,” said Heo Hee, CEO of Hion. “We will promote our next-generation immersion cooling technology to the global market and expand our business with the goal of supplying to North American big tech data centers by 2027.”

AIデータセンターの発熱を解決する昆虫ベースの冷却油
ハイオンは食べ物ごみを食べて育つ昆虫「同愛らに」から抽出した脂質を活用してバイオエステルベースの液浸冷却油を開発している。
液浸冷却は、サーバーを冷却液に直接浸して熱を冷やす方式で、AIデータセンターと高性能コンピューティング（HPC）環境で次世代冷却技術として注目されている。 AIモデル規模が大きくなるほど電力使用量と発熱が急増し、既存空冷式冷却方式の限界を補完する技術として評価される。
ハイオンは100％生分解が可能な環境にやさしい冷却油を開発し、環境性と性能を同時に確保することに集中している。同社側によると、現在のサンプル製作を完了し、既存の石油系冷却液と比較して同級以上の性能を確認した。特に熱を吸収する能力を意味する比熱は、従来製品より1.5倍以上高い水準を記録した。
エアリキッドコラボレーション イヤーグローバル市場攻略
ハイオンは今回のビバテック参加を通じてグローバル企業や投資会社とのコラボレーション機会を拡大する計画だ。ホヒ代表とカン・ヨンモ理事が現場を訪問し、欧州企業と投資家を対象に技術紹介と事業協議を進行する。
同社は先に中小ベンチャー企業部の「グローバル企業協業プログラム」に選定され、フランス産業ガス企業エアリキッドと共同研究開発（R&D）を推進している。今回のビバテック参加も海外市場進出のための重要なきっかけになると期待している。
ホヒハイオン代表は「ビバテックはグローバル企業と投資家が集まるヨーロッパ最大の技術行事」とし「次世代液浸冷却技術をグローバル市場に知らせ、2027年に北米ビッグテックデータセンター供給を目標に事業を拡大していく」と話した。

利用昆虫基冷却剂解决人工智能数据中心发热问题
Hion公司正在开发一种基于生物酯的液体浸没式冷却剂，该冷却剂使用从黑水虻（一种以食物垃圾为食的昆虫）中提取的脂质。
浸没式冷却是一种将服务器直接浸入冷却液中进行冷却的方法，作为人工智能数据中心和高性能计算（HPC）环境中的下一代冷却技术，它正受到广泛关注。随着人工智能模型规模的扩大，功耗和发热量也随之激增，因此浸没式冷却被认为是一种能够弥补现有风冷方法局限性的技术。

Un liquide de refroidissement à base d’insectes pour résoudre le problème de la génération de chaleur dans les centres de données IA
Hion développe un liquide de refroidissement à immersion à base de bioester utilisant des lipides extraits de mouches soldats noires, des insectes qui se nourrissent de déchets alimentaires.
Le refroidissement par immersion est une méthode de refroidissement des serveurs qui consiste à les immerger directement dans un liquide de refroidissement. Cette technologie de refroidissement de nouvelle génération suscite un intérêt croissant dans les centres de données d’IA et les environnements de calcul haute performance (HPC). Elle est considérée comme une solution aux limitations des méthodes de refroidissement par air existantes, car la consommation d’énergie et la production de chaleur augmentent considérablement avec la taille des modèles d’IA.
Hion s’attache à optimiser à la fois la performance environnementale et l’efficacité en développant un liquide de refroidissement écologique et 100 % biodégradable. Selon l’entreprise, la production d’échantillons est terminée et des performances équivalentes, voire supérieures, à celles des liquides de refroidissement à base de pétrole existants ont été confirmées. En particulier, la chaleur spécifique, qui mesure la capacité d’absorption de la chaleur, a été mesurée à un niveau plus de 1,5 fois supérieur à celui des produits actuels.
Cibler le marché mondial suite à la collaboration avec Air Liquide
HION prévoit d’accroître ses opportunités de collaboration avec des entreprises et des investisseurs internationaux grâce à sa participation à VivaTech. La PDG Heo Hee et le directeur Kang Yong-mo se rendront sur place pour présenter leur technologie et mener des discussions commerciales avec des entreprises et des investisseurs européens.
L’entreprise avait été précédemment sélectionnée pour le programme « Global Corporate Collaboration Program » du ministère des PME et des Startups et mène actuellement un projet de recherche et développement conjoint avec le groupe français de gaz industriels Air Liquide. Sa participation au salon VivaTech devrait également constituer une opportunité importante pour son développement à l’international.
« VivaTech est le plus grand événement technologique d’Europe, réunissant entreprises et investisseurs du monde entier », a déclaré Heo Hee, PDG de Hion. « Nous y présenterons notre technologie de refroidissement par immersion de nouvelle génération sur le marché mondial et développerons nos activités afin de fournir les grands centres de données nord-américains d’ici 2027. »
