Microsoft is making big changes to Xbox under new leadership, including a major price cut for Game Pass Ultimate—the tier that includes cloud gaming.
Price Changes
- Game Pass Ultimate: $29.99 → $22.99 per month
- PC Game Pass: $16.49 → $13.99 per month (the article notes a previous price of $16.49)
- Essential (console): $9.99 per month (unchanged)
- Premium (console): $14.99 per month (unchanged)
These new prices are effective immediately through the Xbox website. Prices may vary by region.
Change to Call of Duty Availability
Starting this year, future Call of Duty titles will not join Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch. New Call of Duty games will be added to the subscription during the following holiday season (about a year later), while existing Call of Duty titles already in the library will continue to be available.
Microsoft statement:
“Beginning this year, future Call of Duty titles won’t join Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch. New Call of Duty games will be added to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass during the following holiday season (about a year later), while existing Call of Duty titles already in the library will continue to be available.”
In a time when many services are getting more expensive, this price reduction is a welcome move. New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma noted in a tweet that Ultimate had “become too expensive for too many players.”
