Trump accuses Anthropic of strong‑arming the Pentagon

On Friday afternoon, Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, accusing Anthropic, the AI company behind Claude, of attempting to “STRONG‑ARM” the Pentagon and directing federal agencies to “IMMEDIATELY CEASE” use of its products.

The dispute centers on Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s refusal to sign an updated agreement with the U.S. military that would permit “any lawful use” of Anthropic’s technology, as mandated by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in a January memo. This has frustrated some tech workers across the industry.
