The rumored touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro that Apple is developing will adopt the iPhone’s Dynamic Island and a hole‑punch camera, reports Bloomberg.

Dynamic Island Implementation

The Dynamic Island will replace the notch, freeing more screen space for content. Like the iPhone version, the Mac Dynamic Island will be interactive and will expand contextually based on the app or macOS feature in use.

macOS Touch Enhancements

Apple is updating macOS to be more touch‑friendly:

  • Tapping or clicking on‑screen elements will trigger larger, touch‑optimized controls (e.g., tapping a menu bar item expands its controls).
  • Touch‑based options will be integrated throughout the OS.
  • Support for iPad features such as pinch‑to‑zoom and fast scrolling will be added.

Design and Hardware Specs

  • The new MacBook Pro will be the first Mac to support touch gestures directly on the display, despite Apple’s historic stance against touch on Macs.
  • Apple previously experimented with an OLED Touch Bar but removed it due to poor reception. The upcoming model will not be marketed as a “touch‑first” device; users will be able to use touch and mouse gestures interchangeably.
  • Expected design changes include a slimmer chassis, though the overall look will remain similar to current models. The keyboard and trackpad will stay unchanged, and the size options (14‑inch and 16‑inch) are expected to remain the same.
  • OLED display technology will be paired with the upcoming M6 Pro and M6 Max chips, built on Apple’s new 2‑nanometer process. Earlier in the year, Apple plans to refresh the MacBook Pro line with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.

Future Release Timeline

  • The OLED MacBook Pro models are slated to launch toward the end of 2026.
  • This implies two MacBook Pro refresh cycles in 2026: an early‑year update with M5 chips, followed by the OLED models with M6 chips later in the year.
