New Touchscreen MacBook Pro

Apple is reportedly finally releasing touchscreen MacBooks, decades after the first touchscreen Windows laptops appeared on the market. According to prominent Apple leaker Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, the long‑awaited feature will arrive this year during the company’s fall event—not in March, when new iPad models and an entry‑level MacBook priced between $599 and $699 are expected.

Key Features

  • Touch‑sensitive OLED display – Sources say the upcoming MacBook Pros will sport OLED panels, delivering deeper blacks and higher contrast.
  • Dynamic Island – The controversial notch will be replaced by the Dynamic Island, first introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max in 2022.
  • M6 chip – Under the hood, the OLED models are expected to debut Apple’s next‑generation M6 processor.
  • Familiar design – Aside from the new screen and Dynamic Island, the overall chassis will remain largely unchanged, keeping the experience familiar for veteran MacBook Pro users.

Touch vs. iPad

Gurman emphasizes that the touchscreen MacBook Pro will not replace the iPad. The iPad continues to evolve as a “touch‑first” device, especially with the upcoming release of iPadOS 26, which brings the tablet closer to a MacBook experience. The new MacBook Pro, however, will support a blend of touch gestures and cursor movements, allowing users to choose the input method that best fits their workflow without compromising either experience.
