Background
Rumors have been swirling this year that OnePlus may be looking at serious changes, or even shutting down operations in some markets, as parent brand OPPO reorganizes its portfolio. While the company hasn’t publicly confirmed these rumors—issuing statements such as “OnePlus North America continues to operate”—a now‑deleted LinkedIn post from a OnePlus Europe employee suggested the company is “reviewing its regional roadmap and product strategy.” The post led the employee to look for new work.
Poll Overview
Android Authority ran a poll over the past week asking OnePlus‑using readers what they would do if the brand withdrew from their market. More than 4,000 votes were collected, with respondents choosing from a list of alternative brands.
Results
| Rank | Brand | Approx. Vote Share |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | OPPO (parent company) | > 25% |
| 2 | Google (Pixel) | ~ 22% |
| 3 | Samsung | ~ 21% |
| 4 | Apple | ~ 8% |
| 4 | Xiaomi | ~ 8% |
| 6 | HONOR | ~ 4% |
| 6 | Vivo | ~ 4% |
| 8 | Huawei | ~ 2% |
| — | Other | 6% |
- OPPO, which offers products very similar to OnePlus, narrowly won the poll. Although OPPO phones aren’t officially sold in the US, the brand appears to be a reasonable alternative for European readers.
- Google’s Pixel and Samsung were close behind, each capturing roughly a fifth of the votes.
- Apple and Xiaomi tied for fourth place, while HONOR, Vivo, and Huawei received smaller shares.
Takeaway
If OnePlus were to scale back or exit a market, the majority of its current users would likely switch to OPPO, with Google Pixel and Samsung as strong secondary options. The poll highlights a diverse set of preferences among OnePlus fans, ranging from staying within the same corporate family to moving to entirely different ecosystems.
