Spotify is getting into AI podcasts, but not how you’d expect

Overview

Spotify is enabling users to listen to AI‑generated podcasts through its app, but it isn’t adding AI audio to its existing podcast library. Instead, the company launched a new beta tool that lets users upload personal audio—such as podcasts created with external AI services—to Spotify.

The project was announced in a Spotify blog post.

How It Works

1. CLI Tool – Spotify provides a command‑line interface (CLI) that integrates with desktop AI agents like OpenClaw, Claude Code, or OpenAI Codex.
2. Generate Podcast – Describe the desired podcast to your chosen AI agent. The agent generates the audio file.
3. Upload – The CLI uploads the generated podcast to your Spotify account.
4. Access – The podcast is stored in your personal library and can be streamed on demand, but it won’t appear in public searches and cannot be shared with other users.
