One UI 9 Leak Overview
While One UI 8.5 is still in beta and slated to launch later this month with the Galaxy S26 series, test firmware for One UI 9 has already leaked. The build confirms Samsung’s Galaxy Wide Fold support and introduces a new Ask AI feature for the Samsung Internet app, expected to arrive in a mid‑cycle update alongside the foldable lineup.
Browsing Assist – Current vs. Leaked Description
Current description (in the existing Samsung Internet app):
Browsing assist uses AI to summarize, translate, read summarized webpages aloud, and tell you the latest news highlights.
Leaked description (One UI 9):
Browsing assist uses AI to answer questions about webpages and other topics, summarize and translate text, and read highlights aloud.
Ask AI Feature Details
Strings extracted from the leaked firmware indicate the functionality:
Ask AI about webpages and other topics while you browse.
Ask anything
Ask follow up
Privacy & Chat History
Samsung plans to incorporate browsing history when processing AI queries:
When you ask questions, Samsung processes the page content and, for questions, your browsing history. Past questions and answers are also stored by Samsung to personalize results.
Users appear to have control over how long their Ask AI activity is retained. The leaked strings show a “Session only” option, with the possibility of additional choices in the final release:
Keep Ask AI activity
Choose how long to keep your Ask AI activity so you can continue the conversation. Your choice will immediately apply to all of your devices.
Session only
Activity may be retained for up to 3 days.
Visual Assets
Two graphics (light and dark themes) for the Ask AI feature were found within the Internet app, confirming UI integration for both modes.
Outlook
One UI 9 is still months away, but the leak shows Samsung’s intent to expand AI capabilities well beyond the next flagship launch. The Ask AI feature is likely to evolve further before public release.
Note: An APK teardown can predict upcoming features based on work‑in‑progress code, but there’s no guarantee that all predicted features will reach a public release.
