You told us: These are the phones you should totally avoid buying in February
Source: Android Authority

The second half of February 2026 is packed with smartphone launches. Google has confirmed the Pixel 10 release for later this week, the iPhone 17e is expected shortly after, and the Galaxy S26 series is slated for the end of the month, with possible surprises at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026.
With so many new devices on the horizon, it might be wiser to hold off on buying a new old phone. Our colleague Joe Maring recently listed eight phones you should absolutely avoid buying in February, and readers helped us identify the least desired phone this month. Below are the results.
The least favorite phones this year
We asked our readers to pick the phones they absolutely don’t want to buy or recommend this month. Two models stood out, as shown in the accompanying pie chart.
Galaxy S25 series
Our community strongly opposes purchasing any of the Galaxy S25 phones now. Although the upcoming Galaxy S26 promises modest upgrades—such as Privacy Display to block shoulder surfers and faster 60 W charging on the Ultra—many still dislike Samsung for omitting magnets inside the body (despite MagSafe support in AirPods cases) and for lacking sound‑camera improvements. The slimmer designs may offer some relief, but the consensus remains negative.
Google Pixel 9a and Galaxy A56
These devices trail closely behind. The Pixel 10a is set to launch this week, while the Galaxy A57 is rumored to arrive soon with a metal frame, design tweaks, and faster charging. These upcoming changes give readers good reason to avoid the older models for now.
OnePlus flagship phones
Recent OnePlus top‑tier models also appear on the list due to disappointing features and downgrades—particularly in camera performance—rather than meaningful upgrades. While they remain solid choices for gamers or performance‑focused users, they fail to attract a broader audience after the high standards set by the OnePlus 13 and 13R.
If you’re undecided about a new phone, we hope this community consensus helps you steer clear of less favorable options.
