Upgrade deadline and impact
In 2022, Apple introduced a new Home architecture that is “more reliable and efficient.” Apple has set today, February 10 2026, as the final deadline to upgrade the Home app, warning that users who do not update may experience accessory and automation issues, lose access to their smart home in the app, miss new features (such as robot‑vacuum support), and forgo important security fixes and performance improvements.

How to upgrade the Home app
- Open the Home app.
- Tap or click the three dots in the upper‑right corner and select Home Settings.
- Choose Software Update.
- Tap or click Update Now and follow the prompts. All homes you own are updated simultaneously.
If you see “This home and all accessories are up to date,” you are already running the current version and no further action is required.
