Bloomberg report on Siri delays
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple’s new Siri initiative is facing internal delays. The rollout was originally planned to start with iOS 26.4, but Gurman suggested the features may first appear in iOS 26.5 or later releases this year.
The report appears to have shaken investor confidence, causing Apple’s stock to fall sharply.
Apple’s reaffirmation to CNBC
In response, CNBC’s Steve Kovach said Apple confirmed to him that it remains on track to launch the new Siri features this year, reiterating the company’s public promises.
Apple has not officially commented on Bloomberg’s claims, either confirming or denying them.
Expected Siri features
Since WWDC 2024, Apple has told customers to expect the long‑promised Siri upgrades sometime in 2026. The announced features include:
- Personal context awareness
- Support for rich in‑app actions
- On‑screen awareness, allowing users to ask Siri about what they see on their iPhone and trigger relevant actions
These features were initially slated for iOS 26.4, but the Bloomberg report indicates that target may be missed.
Gemini‑powered AI integration
When released, these will be the first Siri features powered by Google Gemini models, following the partnership Apple and Google announced earlier this year.
For iOS 27, Apple is expected to introduce an even more ambitious Siri chatbot experience, also based on the latest Google Gemini foundation models.
Outlook
If the current “primitive” features are delayed, the iOS 27 enhancements could also slip. In the fast‑moving AI market, investor confidence hinges on Apple’s ability to catch up quickly.
