Overview

Oura today unveiled the Oura Ring 5, a significantly smaller smart ring with new health‑monitoring capabilities, including blood‑pressure trend detection, nighttime breathing analysis, and tools for GLP‑1 medication tracking.

Design

  • Size reduction: 40 % smaller than the previous model, measuring 6.09 mm wide × 2.29 mm thick (vs. 7.99 mm × 2.88 mm).
  • The redesign touches the mechanical, electrical, optical, battery, and sensing architectures, giving the ring a profile that more closely resembles a traditional wedding band.
  • Battery life: Approximately one week per charge, unchanged despite the smaller form factor.

Sensing System

  • New signal architecture with precision‑engineered sensor domes for improved skin contact.
  • More powerful LEDs and twelve signal pathways that aim to deliver greater accuracy across a wider range of finger types and skin tones.

Health Radar

The headline software addition, Health Radar, builds on the existing Symptom Radar (launched in 2024) and currently includes two capabilities:

Blood Pressure Signals

Continuously monitors patterns that may indicate cardiovascular strain, surfacing nighttime blood‑pressure trends.

Nighttime Breathing

Provides a 30‑day rolling view of sleep‑related breathing disturbances, with guidance on when to seek further evaluation.

Health Records & Partnerships

  • Health Records feature (U.S. only) lets users import diagnosed conditions, medications, lab results, and allergies directly into the app.
  • Partnership with Counsel Health, an AI‑powered virtual‑care platform, enables eligible users in 43 U.S. states to ask health questions and connect with licensed physicians from within the app for an additional fee.

GLP‑1 Insights

New tools let users track GLP‑1 medication dosing, side effects, weight changes, and biometric data in one place.
A Lab Uploads feature allows importing blood‑biomarker results alongside Oura’s biometric data.

Additional Features

  • Live workout tracking with real‑time pace, distance, and heart‑rate via a connected device.
  • Brain Health Study through Oura Labs, pairing cognitive assessments with biometric data.
  • Time‑based Data Deletion tool for erasing data from specific periods without affecting the full history.
  • Locate feature to help locate misplaced rings and charging cases.

Accessories & Availability

  • Optional Charging Case accessory provides up to one month of battery life and supports wireless charging (price: $99).
  • Shipping begins June 4.
