iOS 27's Siri App and 'Search or Ask' Feature Shown in Leaked Images

Overview

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared a series of recreated screenshots that reveal iOS 27’s all‑new Siri app and the “Search or Ask” functionality. The images are renders based on information obtained by Bloomberg.

Siri App UI

• The Siri app defaults to a dark interface.
• At the bottom, an Ask Siri field accepts text prompts, with a microphone icon to switch to voice mode and a paperclip icon for attaching images and other files.
• A page displays past conversations, which can appear as a list or as bubbles on the screen.

iOS 27 will include a personalized version of Siri with on‑screen awareness and better understanding of personal context. At WWDC 2024, Apple demonstrated a user asking Siri about their mother’s flight and lunch reservation, with information retrieved from Mail and Messages.

Personal Data Integration

• Users can ask Siri for times they are available for appointments before scheduling them in the calendar.
• Siri can draft emails, notes, or text messages using information from the device or the internet.

The new Siri will be built into the Dynamic Island. iOS 27 users can swipe down from the top‑center of the iPhone screen to launch a new “Search or Ask” interface. The ability to say “Siri” or hold down the power button for voice‑based queries remains available.

“Search or Ask” Feature

The “Search or Ask” interface includes a revamped version of the existing Siri Suggestions view, showing:

• Frequently used apps
• Recent web searches
• Weather forecast
• Shortcuts for actions like recording a voice memo

From this view, users can search the web using Apple’s new AI‑powered search system. Results appear in a rich‑text card that pops out of the Dynamic Island; swiping down further opens a full conversation inside the Siri app.

AI Integration

Apple has reached a deal for Gemini to power the underlying AI models for Apple Intelligence features, including the personalized Siri. Siri has been able to tap into ChatGPT since iOS 18.2. In iOS 27, a new Extensions feature will allow additional chatbots—such as Gemini and Claude—to be connected.

Additional Apple Intelligence Tools

• Siri mode is coming to the Camera app.
• New tools like Reframe and Extend will be added to the Photos app.

Release Timeline

The WWDC 2026 keynote begins on Monday, June 8 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Following beta testing, the update is expected to be released in September, bringing the new Siri to the masses.
