Overview

After briefly announcing its new foldable at CES, Motorola is now ready to debut its first book‑style foldable in full at MWC 2026. The Razr Fold supports Motorola’s new Pen Ultra stylus and features five cameras. While many specifications were previously unknown, the hands‑on reveals several pleasant surprises.

Displays

Motorola has made both screens brighter than any of its rivals.

  • Main display: 8.1‑inch LTPO panel, 2,484 × 2,232 (~2K) resolution, peak brightness 6,200 nits, up to 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support.
  • External display: 2,520 × 1,080 resolution, peak brightness 6,000 nits, up to 165 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support.

For comparison, the Pixel 10 Fold Pro’s screens peak at 3,000 nits, and most other foldables have substantially lower brightness levels.

Battery & Charging

The Razr Fold uses a silicon‑carbon 6,000 mAh battery, one of the largest among foldables.

  • Fast charging: up to 80 W with Motorola’s TurboPower charger (sold separately).
  • Wireless charging: up to 50 W.

Despite the large battery, the device remains relatively slim: 4.6 mm (0.181 in) when open and 9.9 mm (0.39 in) when closed. Samsung’s latest Z Fold is thinner (4.2 mm open, 8.9 mm closed) but has a smaller 4,400 mAh battery.

Design & Build

The hands‑on unit was the Blackened Blue iteration, featuring a woven piqué finish that feels comfortable to hold and resists fingerprints. A Lily White color option will be available with a satin finish instead of the piqué texture.

Processor & Cooling

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 flagship processor, the Razr Fold includes a liquid‑cooling system to maintain consistent performance during demanding tasks and gaming sessions.

Camera System

Motorola claims the Razr Fold has the best camera on a foldable, with the highest DXOMARK score among its peers. The camera array includes:

CameraSensorLens / F‑stopFeatures
Main50 MPf/1.63.5° optical image stabilization, multi‑spectral 3‑in‑1 light sensor
Ultra‑wide50 MP122° field of view, macro support
Periscope telephoto50 MP3× optical zoom, up to 100× SuperZoom (AI‑enhanced)
Internal selfie32 MPf/2.44K video recording
External selfie20 MPf/2.4

Stylus Support

The device supports Motorola’s newest stylus, the Moto Pen Ultra, which will require further testing once the foldable is available for review.

Pricing & Availability

Motorola has not announced pricing or exact availability. The Razr Fold is expected to launch in North America “in the coming months.”
