iOS 27 Siri Redesign Will Use Dark Color Scheme, Matching Apple's WWDC Art

Overview
Apple is redesigning Siri for iOS 27 to accommodate new artificial‑intelligence features and chatbot capabilities. Siri will receive a dedicated app, integration with the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, and a new dark‑color design scheme.
Design Language
The graphics Apple is using to promote WWDC hint at Siri’s upcoming look, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The WWDC website logo features the Swift bird in white on a black background, with subtle highlights in pink, dark blue, purple, and orange. These colors echo the current Siri animation that surrounds the iPhone’s display when Siri is activated, but the shades are softer and less saturated.
The Siri interface being tested uses all dark colors, with no light‑mode option available for now. Several new UI elements will have a dark background, and a cursor will blink in the same accent colors.
Dedicated Siri App
Apple is creating a standalone Siri app for ongoing chatbot‑style conversations. The app will resemble existing chatbot apps but adopt a Messages‑style aesthetic. When Siri is activated:
- A pill‑shaped animation appears in the Dynamic Island.
- A glowing “searching” label is shown while Siri processes a query.
- Results are displayed in a translucent panel; pulling down on the panel initiates the conversation interface.
System‑Wide Search Activation
Swiping down from the top‑center of the display will launch a system‑wide search interface with a Search or Ask bar, allowing users to type or speak questions to Siri.
AI Backend
Apple plans to overhaul Siri’s intelligence by licensing Google’s Gemini models after its own AI models proved inadequate. With Gemini as Siri’s backbone, Apple should be able to match many of the AI features offered by Google.
WWDC 2026
The redesign will be unveiled at the WWDC 2026 keynote on June 8.
