Hands-on: This ultra-thin Find My card tracker solves AirTag’s biggest problem
Source: 9to5Mac
There are a ton of smart trackers flooding the market right now, especially with Apple’s Find My network continuing to grow and the recent release of the Gen 2 AirTags. But those new AirTags still have the same issues that the first gen had: their form factor makes it awkward to put in wallets, and they use disposable batteries. KeySmart’s new SmartCard aims to alleviate all of that. It is just 1.7 mm thin compared to the 8 mm thickness of the AirTag, and it recharges wirelessly. Anyone who uses a wallet should consider getting one.
KeySmart SmartCard Gen 3
There are a lot of useful and meaningful features packed in this little card‑shaped tracker. The first thing that stands out is just how slim it is—basically the thickness of a regular metal credit card. Their biggest improvement to this new Gen 3 model is the new chip, which provides faster processing, better connectivity to the Find My network, and much better power efficiency. All those improvements mean we go from 8 months of battery life to 11 months on a single charge!
Spec breakdown
- 1.8 mm thin (≈ 0.07 in)
- Up to 11 months per charge
- Charges via Qi wireless charging (works with MagSafe)
- IPX8 waterproof (completely submersible)
- Status light and sound alerts
- Works with Find My and Google Hub

The form factor and wireless charging alone make this tracker extremely convenient. Being able to just attach the card to a MagSafe charger for a bit and knowing it will last about a year without recharging is amazing.
My experience
It really blows my mind that Apple has not made a form factor like this. I am amazed at how thin, yet sturdy, this KeySmart tracker is. It fits perfectly into my Puncube wallet alongside my other cards. It does not add any extra bulk and just disappears like any other card. In daily use, there are no pressure points when you sit down, and you don’t get the awkward protruding bump you’d get from trying to carry an AirTag in a standard wallet.

Setting this card up in the Find My network was also very easy and feels nearly identical to connecting an AirTag. Once paired, you get all the tracker features you would expect: location updates, alerts when you are separated from your wallet, and the ability to trigger a sound to help you locate it when you’re close. The improved connection reliability from the new chipset helps with consistency indoors, where trackers often struggle. And the Qi charging is a great quality‑of‑life feature—just place it on a wireless phone charger and you’re good for another 11 months.
