Security Features
Left‑Behind Alerts & Automatic Phone Lock
- The long‑awaited left‑behind alert is now rolling out. Pixel Watch devices can send reminders when they move out of range of their paired phone.
- When the watch disconnects, it can automatically lock a Pixel phone, helping prevent unauthorized access.
- Requirements: Pixel 8 or newer phone paired with a Pixel Watch 2 or newer.
Mobile Trusted Location via Watch
- Unlock certain features faster when your Pixel phone and watch are nearby.
- Uses a quicker PIN‑based check instead of extra verification steps.
- Requirements: Pixel 8 Pro or newer and a Pixel Watch 3 or Pixel Watch 4.
Find Hub
- Find Hub is now available on the Pixel Watch, allowing users to locate misplaced devices directly from the wrist. This adds another layer of control, making the watch feel more like a central hub.
Digital Payments
Express Pay
- Express Pay removes the need to open Google Wallet at checkout. Users can now pay with a simple tap on the watch, making transactions feel more like tapping a credit card.
Gesture Controls

Google
- One‑handed gesture controls have been rolled back to the Pixel Watch 3.
- Double pinch or wrist turn gestures let users answer calls, snap photos, or pause workouts without touching the screen.
- The feature originally landed on the Pixel Watch 4 in December (source).
Emergency Features

Google
- Satellite SOS expands beyond the continental US to Europe, Canada, Hawaii, and Alaska. It lets users contact emergency services when cellular connectivity is unavailable.
- Standalone Earthquake Alerts are added to Pixel Watch 2 and newer models, warning users of nearby seismic activity.
Rollout
- The update begins rolling out on March 3 to all currently supported Pixel devices.
- The most notable features require newer hardware (Pixel 8 Pro+, Pixel Watch 3/4, etc.).
By tightening security, reducing friction, and expanding emergency coverage, Google is strengthening the Pixel Watch’s core experience and narrowing the gap with rivals that offer similar conveniences.
