New Express Pay Feature

Google is rolling out a major update for the Pixel Watch that enables express pay – the ability to make a range of payments by simply tapping your watch to a retail terminal, without opening the Wallet app. This feature is arriving on the Pixel Watch 2 and later models.

How to Use

• Opt in to the express pay feature in the watch’s settings.
• The watch must be unlocked to complete a payment.

Comparison with Apple Watch

The new functionality is similar to “express mode” on the Apple Watch, which lets users pay with compatible cards without waking or unlocking the device.

Before this update, Pixel Watch users had to double‑tap the device’s crown to open the Wallet app before making a payment.
