Last August, the Google Phone app got a feature many users fell in love with: Calling Cards. Calling Cards let you create a customized screen that appears whenever a contact calls you, complete with a personalized full‑screen photo and custom text.

However, the original implementation only allowed you to create Calling Cards for your contacts, and only you could see them. Thanks to an update on March 3, you can now create a personal Calling Card that others see when you call them.

How to create your own Calling Card

  1. Open the Google Phone app. If the new feature is available, you’ll see a banner at the top that says “Create your calling card.” Tap the Get started button.
If you don’t see the banner, follow these steps:

    • Tap the three lines (menu) in the top‑left corner.
    • Select Settings.
    • Scroll to the bottom and tap Calling card.
    • Under “Your calling card,” tap Create.
  2. Choose the Google profile you want to link to the card.

  3. Add a photo – you can select from Camera, Gallery, or Google Photos. After picking an image, you can move and zoom it until it looks just right.

  4. Customize the text:

    • The first row lets you pick a font.
    • Below that, choose a color.
    • Additional font options let you fine‑tune width, weight, and roundness.

Tap the card at any time to see a full‑screen preview.

  5. When you’re satisfied, tap Done in the top‑right corner.

    • On the preview screen you can adjust sharing settings. By default the card is shared only with your contacts, but you can change Show your calling card to to “Everyone you talk to.”
    • Tap Done at the bottom to save.

Your personal Calling Card is now active. You can edit the design or sharing preferences later by returning to Settings → Calling card in the Phone app.

What to do if you don’t have the Calling Card update

Personal Calling Cards began rolling out widely on March 3, but the rollout may still be in progress for some devices.

  1. Open the Google Play Store and ensure the Google Phone app is updated to the latest version.
  2. If the app is up‑to‑date and you still don’t see the feature, it may simply be a matter of waiting for Google’s server‑side rollout to reach your device.
