Custom Caller ID Cards

Google has added custom Calling Cards that appear on compatible Android phones when you call someone, letting the person on the other end know who’s trying to get in contact.

  • Availability: Android 11+ now, with Wear OS support arriving soon.
  • Requirements: Both the caller’s and the recipient’s devices must have Phone by Google set as the primary calling app.
  • Privacy option: You can choose to show your Calling Card only to contacts.

Users can customise their Calling Card by:

  • Selecting a photo from their gallery.
  • Choosing the font and colour of their name.

Unlike iPhone’s similar feature, Android’s Calling Cards do not currently let you pick an avatar or emoji directly, though a photo can be used as a workaround.

New Location‑Sharing Features

Google has also expanded its location‑tracking network Find Hub (formerly Find My Device). Recent updates include:

  • In‑app location sharing via Google Messages – share your real‑time location directly in a conversation; the recipient sees a live map pinpoint.
  • Automatic stop‑sharing – set a timer for the share to end automatically, or stop it manually at any time.

Find Hub now also lets you share tracked items’ locations with partnered airlines to help locate wayward luggage. Google is working with more than ten major airlines, including China Airlines, Air India, Turkish Airlines, and plans to add Qantas soon.
