Google Photos for Android rolls out sticker creation
Source: 9to5Google
After rolling out to iOS in August, Google Photos for Android now lets you create stickers from your images. This feature lets you “effortlessly turn people, pets, or objects in your favorite images into unique, personalized stickers” without needing special tools or extra apps. It launches on Android as Pixel Studio winds down.
How to create stickers
- Open the Google Photos app on your Android device.
- Select a photo.
- A shimmer effect outlines the subject of the photo that can be turned into a sticker.
- Press and hold the subject to create a sticker.
Choose an action
- Copy – tap Copy to copy the sticker.
- Share – tap Share to share the sticker.

Google recommends using photos “with a subject that’s clearly defined in the foreground.” The stickers can be shared through apps such as WhatsApp and Instagram for more personalized, expressive conversations.
Sticker creation is available on most Android devices with the latest update and at least 4 GB RAM. Google Photos version 7.64 is widely available on the Play Store.
Upcoming features
A future update (as seen on iOS) will add a history for quick reuse by going to Collections > Stickers.
