On stage at Google I/O 2026, we got a preview of the first Android XR glasses built through a collaboration between Google and Samsung. The devices are being co‑designed with Gentle Monster for “disruptive yet refined aesthetics” and Warby Parker for “refined and timeless designs.”

Samsung’s press release describes the glasses as a companion to your smartphone that lets you “access help through voice interaction.” Features highlighted include:

  • Navigation assistance via voice‑activated Gemini
  • Placing orders at restaurants and other voice‑driven actions
  • Summarized notifications for important texts
  • Calendar event creation
  • Real‑time translation with audio that matches the speaker’s voice, plus on‑screen text translation for menus or signs
  • Seamless integration with the Galaxy ecosystem for hands‑free photo capture and everyday task management

Samsung says:
“Built to understand the world alongside users in real time, the new intelligent eyewear provides everyday support while keeping users hands‑free and heads‑up. Users can access navigation assistance by simply asking Gemini with their voices, receive personalized suggestions such as a nearby coffee shop on their walking route, or even place an order for pickup. Users can also receive summarized notifications for important texts and add events to their calendars. Additional features include real‑time translations with audio that matches the speaker’s voice, as well as the ability to translate text on menus or signs in the user’s line of sight. Working seamlessly within the Galaxy ecosystem, the device helps users easily manage everyday tasks or effortlessly capture photos, all without taking their phone out.”

The first preview did not include pricing or confirm whether the glasses have a built‑in display, but it did confirm that multiple styles will be available. Two styles were shown, with the “first collections” expected later this year. A previous leak had shown an additional style not present in today’s teaser.

Samsung is targeting a Fall 2026 release for its first Android XR glasses, with “additional details” to be announced in the coming months. Further information is likely to surface during the Fold 8 launch in July, as anticipated, though the glasses are not expected to ship alongside the new foldables.
