Solid-State Battery Heat Test
Finnish startup Donet Lab is out to prove that its solid‑state battery lives up to its claims. After a fast‑charging test last week, this week the focus shifted to extreme heat.
The test was conducted by the state‑owned VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The team evaluated how well Donet Lab’s cells performed under high temperatures, a condition that typically degrades traditional lithium‑ion batteries.
Results
- The solid‑state battery continued to discharge energy at temperatures up to 100 °C (212 °F).
- Remarkably, the cell gained capacity under these extreme conditions.
