ChatGPT users may soon start seeing ads in their chats, as OpenAI announced on Monday that it is officially beginning to test ads on its AI platform. The ads will appear as labeled “sponsored” links at the bottom of ChatGPT answers, but OpenAI says the ads do not influence the answers ChatGPT gives you.

Who will see the ads?

  • Free tier users and those on the $8/month “Go” plan will see the sponsored links.
  • Users on the Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education plans will not see any ads.
  • To avoid ads entirely, a user must subscribe to at least the $20/month Plus plan.
