Apple TV partners with IMAX for live F1 races
You’ll need an Apple TV subscription if you want to watch Formula 1 at home this season in the United States. Apple is taking its new broadcasting rights beyond the living room. In a partnership announced today with IMAX, Apple TV will also show select races from this season live in theaters.
Five of the 2026 Grand Prix events will be shown at IMAX screens across the country: Silverstone, Miami, Monaco, Monza and Austin. The first IMAX race will be Miami on May 3, and the races will be shown at more than 50 IMAX locations nationwide.
Apple Services VP Oliver Schusser said, “By bringing F1 on Apple TV live to IMAX theaters nationwide, we’re delivering the energy and excitement to even more screens in a truly immersive way.”
The announcement is part of IMAX’s broader strategy to expand beyond theatrical movies, leaning heavily on live sports and music concert events for future growth.
Additional Apple TV sports distribution
Apple also announced that access to Formula 1 broadcasts in restaurants, bars, and clubs will be provided through a deal with EverPass Media, which powers television access in commercial establishments across the US. The Apple deal encompasses F1, MLS, and MLB Friday Night Baseball.
Formula 1 is streaming exclusively on Apple TV beginning March 7. Here’s all the details.
