Apple Releases Third macOS Tahoe 26.4 Public Beta

Apple today provided public beta testers with the third release of an upcoming macOS Tahoe 26.4 update for testing purposes. The public beta arrives a week after Apple seeded the second beta.

After signing up for beta testing on Apple’s beta site, public beta testers can download the update via the Software Update section in the Settings app.
New features in macOS Tahoe 26.4
- Compact tab layout – Re‑implemented in Safari for users who missed the option in earlier versions of macOS Tahoe. Details: macOS Tahoe 26.4 Compact Tab Bar.
- Charge Limit – Allows Mac users to set a maximum charge level ranging from 80 % to 100 %.
- Rosetta 2 warnings – Apple silicon Macs now see warnings for apps still using Rosetta 2, as Apple plans to phase out Rosetta after macOS 27.
- Intel‑Mac support ending – macOS Tahoe is the final version that will run on Intel‑based Macs; Apple is removing remaining Intel‑specific features.
Additional features, such as new emoji characters, may appear in future releases of macOS Tahoe 26.4. Apple is expected to test the update over the next several weeks, with a launch planned for the spring.
