macOS 26.4 beta 2

Just a week after releasing macOS 26.4 beta 1, Apple is now rolling out beta 2 for developers. Here’s what to expect.

Welcome tweaks and features, but no new Siri

While macOS 26.4 beta 1 didn’t bring the rumored first results of Apple’s partnership with Google for a Gemini‑powered Siri, it does look like macOS 26.4 will be more feature‑heavy than macOS 26.3, which mostly brought bug fixes and performance improvements.

  • macOS 26.4 beta 1 introduced a Charge Limit setting, letting users specify a maximum charge level for their devices. Users can now select a preferred charge limit between 80 % and 100 %.

  • The compact tab bar returned to Safari, after being removed on macOS Tahoe 26.

  • Apple’s release notes initially claimed a fix for the corner‑radius bug where the resize pointer does not follow the window’s corner shape, but later clarified it as a “known issue.” Beta 2 may finally resolve this.

  • macOS 26.4 will start notifying users about the upcoming discontinuation of Rosetta 2. Support is expected to end with macOS 28, and Apple is beginning to warn users now to encourage developers to update their apps.

The release build for today’s macOS 26.4 beta 2 is 25E5218f. We are digging through the code and will report back if we find more new features.
