TL;DR
- Apple has released iOS 26.3 for iPhones, and it includes a Transfer to Android tool in the Settings menu.
- The tool lets you transfer data such as photos, messages, passwords, and notes from your iPhone to an Android device.
- It does not support health data, protected items, or paired Bluetooth devices.
Switching from iPhone to Android
Switching from an iPhone to an Android device has never been completely painless, even though Google offers the Switch to Android app. Apple’s latest iOS update changes that dynamic.
Apple released iOS 26.3, and AppleInsider reports that the update adds a Transfer to Android option directly in the Settings menu. The tool first asks you to place your iPhone next to the target Android device, then initiates the transfer.
What can be transferred?
According to MacRumors, the following data types are eligible for transfer:
- Photos (including Live Photos)
- Messages
- Apps
- Phone number
- Notes
- Passwords
What isn’t transferred?
The tool does not handle:
- Health data
- Paired Bluetooth devices
- Protected items
While the omission of health data is understandable, many users would have liked to see it included.
Why this matters
The new Transfer to Android feature means you no longer need to install third‑party apps on your iPhone to move to Android. It arrives after Android’s own native data‑transfer feature (introduced in Android Canary) that lets users copy data from Android to iOS.
