The Problem

John Davie, founder and CEO of Buyers Edge Platform, wanted his hospitality‑procurement company to benefit from the AI wave. After exploring the market, he found existing options lacking.

“We had a bit of a wake‑up call about a year ago when we learned that if our employees are just using any various AI tools, or even their own license, it could be training on our company information,” Davie told TechCrunch. “We could be essentially edging our competitor.”

He also discovered that many enterprise AI contracts were expensive, long‑term, and produced inaccurate or hallucinated answers that sometimes made their way into presentations.

The Solution: CollectivIQ

CollectivIQ — a Boston‑based spin‑out incubated at Buyers Edge Platform — offers a tool that queries multiple large language models (LLMs) simultaneously, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude, Grok, and up to ten others. The software searches for overlapping and differing information to produce a fused answer that is intended to be more accurate than any single model.

Key features

  • Multi‑model querying: Pulls responses from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, and other LLMs at the same time.
  • Answer fusion: Identifies consensus and discrepancies across models to generate a more reliable response.
  • Enterprise‑grade privacy: All prompt data is encrypted and deleted after use.

“As somebody who just loves technology, you’re always looking for the best of the best… I wanted to give my employees the best of the best of AI, but there was really nothing out there that would bring them all together into one.” – John Davie

Rollout and Pricing

CollectivIQ began internal testing with Buyers Edge Platform employees in early 2026. The response was strong, prompting the company to make the product publicly available for other businesses facing similar AI adoption challenges.

  • Infrastructure: Built on enterprise APIs from the various LLM providers.
  • Cost model: CollectivIQ covers token costs; customers pay only for usage, avoiding long‑term commitments.

“I’m hoping that this is a breath of fresh air for companies that see that they are not going to have to be committed. They’re only going to pay for the value they get out of it.” – John Davie

Funding and Outlook

CollectivIQ is currently fully funded by John Davie. He plans to seek external capital later in the year. For Davie, building the startup feels reminiscent of his early entrepreneurial days:

“It does feel like way back in the day and we are doing it all over again… It’s fun and exciting. I sit hand‑in‑hand with the software developers building the product.” – John Davie
