Zoom Partners With Sam Altman's Iris-Scanning Company To Offer Callers Verifications of Humanness
Source: Slashdot
Overview
Zoom has partnered with World, Sam Altman’s iris‑scanning identity company (formerly known as Worldcoin) — as reported by Digital Trends — to add real‑time human verification inside meetings.
Beta rollout
Zoom is inviting organizations to join the beta version of the rollout. According to Digital Trends, the feature lets hosts confirm that every face on the call belongs to a real person, not an AI‑generated imposter.
Deep Face verification process
World’s Deep Face technology works through a three‑step process:
- Signed image from the user’s original Orb registration.
- Live face scan captured from the participant’s device.
- Video frame visible to other participants in the meeting.
Only when all three samples match does a “Verified Human” badge appear next to the user’s name.
Host controls
- Hosts can make Deep Face verification mandatory for joining meetings, preventing unverified participants from entering.
- Mid‑call, on‑the‑spot checks are also possible.
