TL;DR
- The Google TV team plans to update the remote experience for faster navigation.
- The company will introduce pointer remote support.
- This feature will let you use your TV remote like a mouse.
New pointer remote for Google TV
Google TV is preparing to introduce a motion‑controlled pointer remote that works like a cursor on the big screen. Aim the controller at the TV, move the on‑screen cursor, and select items just as you would with a mouse. The interaction is similar to using a Nintendo Wii remote to navigate.

Developer support
Developers are being asked to indicate in Google Play whether their apps support pointer input. This will allow users to see which apps are compatible with the new pointer remote directly in the Play Store.
