Google TV hits 300 million active devices as growth stalls
Source: 9to5Google

Overview
Google TV growth appears to be slowing down, with the number of active devices increasing by only about 11 % over the past year and a half.
Following the launch of Google TV, Android on TVs grew rapidly. In 2023 there were 150 million active devices, and around a year and a half later that number jumped to 270 million. At Google I/O 2026, the latest update put the total at 300 million active Google TV and Android TV devices globally.
The growth rate has slowed to just over 11 %—an addition of 30 million devices. This isn’t entirely surprising given the broader market context. Google TV entered a shifting TV landscape where smart TVs were exploding and many brands, such as Hisense and TCL, were dropping their in‑house platforms in favor of Google’s offering.
Regional performance
Recent reports indicate that Google TV’s growth has stalled. It remains a dominant force in some regions, such as Europe, but analysts agree that while Google TV will stay a major player, its market share is likely to shrink over the coming years.
Recent updates
At I/O, Google announced a new focus on bringing better support for pointer remotes to Google TV. No major new features or platform changes were revealed.
