Having seen it in person at MWC, it’s clear this isn’t an average electric family sedan (as fast as those are these days). The Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo is a futuristic supercar that sits very low to the ground and appears to have been designed with one primary goal: to defeat the wind.
Design and Aerodynamics
The concept’s sleek silhouette is complemented by a low drag coefficient, a focus highlighted during Xiaomi’s presentation. While we weren’t allowed inside to view the “cocoon‑shaped” interior, the exterior design includes several notable aerodynamic features.

One striking detail is the tire covers, which reportedly do not rotate as the car moves, further reducing drag. The exact mechanism remains undisclosed.

Vision Gran Turismo Program
The “Vision Gran Turismo” name isn’t accidental; it indicates that the concept car is part of the Vision Gran Turismo Program. This initiative, led by Polyphony Digital’s Kazunori Yamauchi, brings together a series of (mostly virtual) vehicles from various manufacturers for the Gran Turismo racing game franchise. Historically, participants have included established automotive brands such as Mercedes‑Benz, Audi, and Honda. Xiaomi—primarily known as a consumer electronics company—has now joined the program.

Future Availability
As a concept tied to a video‑game franchise, the Xiaomi Vision GT is unlikely to become a production vehicle that consumers can purchase. However, gamers will soon be able to drive it in Gran Turismo 7, allowing Xiaomi to add “hypercar maker” to its expanding portfolio.
