New posting limits for unverified accounts

X has introduced a new daily limit for accounts without a blue checkmark: 50 original posts and 200 replies per day. The restriction is outlined on the X Help Center page.

Comparison to previous limits

Earlier versions of the Help Center page listed a limit of 2,400 posts per day. Archived snapshots of the page (see web.archive.org) confirm that the new limit is dramatically lower.

Possible motivations

The change appears to be part of X’s broader effort to curb spam and bot activity. In October, X rolled out the “about this account” feature, which shows the account’s location to combat inauthentic engagement. The new posting caps may serve a similar purpose.

User reactions

  • Reports on X and Reddit indicate that users were not warned in advance.
  • Some users fear the limits could push them to leave the platform.

For users who want unlimited posting, X offers a paid tier:

  • X Premium – Basic: $3 per month or $32 per year.

These plans include the blue checkmark and lift the daily posting restrictions.
