AI Assistant Overview
Starting on Tuesday, WordPress users can edit their websites using the new AI assistant built into the platform’s site editor and media library, as reported by TechCrunch (link).
The AI appears in a sidebar within the WordPress site editor, where users can:
- Edit and translate text
- Generate and edit images using Google’s Nano Banana
- Make site adjustments such as creating new pages or changing fonts
Interaction via Block Notes
WordPress 6.9, released in December, introduced a block notes feature that lets users leave comments directly in the site editor. By tagging the AI assistant with @ai in a block note, users can give prompts like:
- “Edit this block of text”
- “Suggest a headline”
Enabling the AI Assistant
To try the AI assistant, users must manually enable it:
- Go to the site’s Settings.
- Toggle on AI tools.
Websites created with the AI website builder launched last year will have AI tools enabled by default.
