Waymo opens its newest robotaxi to non‑employee passengers

After several months of testing, Waymo is ready to invite the public into its latest vehicle, the Zeekr RT minivan, now rebranded as Ojai.

Rollout locations

• San Francisco
• Los Angeles
• Phoenix

Waymo will initially grant “select riders” access in these cities and plans to “gradually” expand to additional riders and locations.

Pricing

• Free rides at launch while Waymo gathers data on the passenger experience.
• Paid rides will be introduced after the data‑collection phase.

Fleet update

Waymo’s existing fleet of Jaguar I‑Pace vehicles, which runs on the company’s fifth‑generation technology launched in March 2020, has reached the end of its shelf life and is being phased out in favor of the new Ojai minivan.
