Uber previews its Dubai air‑taxi service

Uber is one step closer to going airborne. On Wednesday, the company previewed its air taxi booking service ahead of an expected launch in Dubai later this year. The inaugural Uber Air program will let travelers book Joby Aviation’s electric air taxis through a familiar process in the Uber app.

Booking experience

• After entering a destination, Uber Air appears as an option for eligible routes.
• The Uber app simultaneously books a flight and an Uber Black to transport the passenger to a Joby “vertiport.”
• The service mirrors the standard Uber ride‑hailing flow, making the transition to air travel seamless for users.

Vehicle specifications

• Capacity: Up to four passengers plus luggage.
• Interior: SUV‑sized cabin with comfortable seating and panoramic windows.
• Performance:
  • Top speed of 200 mph.
  • Range of up to 100 miles per charge.
• Safety: Equipped with four battery packs and a triple‑redundant flight computer.
• Guidelines: Size and weight limits will be announced closer to launch.
