TSMC faces AI demand challenges amid U.S. factory build‑out
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the world’s largest semiconductor maker, is struggling to meet the soaring demand from its American customers despite its ongoing factory build‑out in the United States, according to Reuters and Bloomberg.
“Customer demand is so high, and we can only support so much,” TSMC CEO C.C. Wei said after a shareholder meeting on Thursday. “We are doing our best to ensure TSMC does not become a bottleneck.”
The AI boom has already strained the memory industry, with widespread shortages of RAM and NAND flash expected to persist for years, further amplifying pressure on semiconductor supply chains.
