Tidy First? ― Practicing Empirical Software Design Individually is a book I read. It’s only 130 pages, so you can read it quickly.

The book makes you think about whether to “tidy up” from the perspectives of:

  • Cost
  • Revenue
  • Coupling
  • Cohesion

I found the arguments to be concise and easy to understand.

Personally, I find it challenging to estimate costs and revenues, which tests my skills as a technician. In particular, some chapters that present ideas through a monetary economy approach were interesting.
