Overview
iRobot has announced a new line of Roombas, a year after it debuted its first lidar‑based robot vacuums just prior to filing for bankruptcy. This week it introduced eight robot vacuums that improve on its prior lineup and feature lower prices, some up to £200 (about $270) cheaper.
Key Changes
- Higher suction power
- Smaller overall size to better navigate homes
- More models with roller mops
- Introduction of “hot spot mopping”
Size Reduction
The new lineup is up to 25 percent smaller for “many” models, making it easier for the vacuums to reach tight spaces.
Pricing
Some of the new models are priced up to £200 (≈ $270) lower than previous versions.
Ownership
iRobot underwent a reboot and is now owned by Shenzhen Picea Robotics, a Chinese original design manufacturer of robotic vacuums.
