TL;DR
- A prominent leaker has revealed that the Tensor G7 processor is codenamed Lajolla.
- The chipset is expected to be used in the Pixel 12 phones in 2027.
- This leak comes months ahead of the Pixel 11’s launch window.
Leak Details
Google will launch the Pixel 11 series later this year, and we’ve already heard plenty of details about the Tensor G6 processor expected to power these phones. Now, it turns out that we have our first leak for the Pixel 12’s processor.
MysticLeaks on Telegram has revealed that the Tensor G7 processor, expected to appear in Pixel 12 phones, is codenamed Lajolla (or LaJolla). This is likely a reference to the La Jolla area in San Diego.
Codename History
The internal name follows Google’s recent Tensor codenames, which reference locations in California:
- Tensor G5 (used in the Pixel 10 phones) – codename Laguna
- Tensor G6 – codename Malibu
- Tensor G7 – codename Lajolla
Speculation
We don’t have further details about the Tensor G7 yet, but it could use TSMC’s 2 nm manufacturing process again. While Google tends to prioritize AI capabilities over raw performance, the chip may still aim to compete with flagship processors from Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Samsung.
Tensor G6 Recap
For context, the Pixel 11’s Tensor G6 is expected to feature:
- 2 nm TSMC design
- Seven‑core CPU up to 4.11 GHz
- PowerVR CXTP‑48‑1536 GPU
- MediaTek M90 modem
- Upgraded security chip, TPU, and image signal processor
These details come from various Tensor G6 leaks.
