Wozniak Reflects on Apple’s Origin

“Well, it kind of started when I was born,” Steve Wozniak jokes when asked about Apple’s origin. “Steve Jobs wanted a company and he did it, and I was his resource.”

Wozniak, who co‑founded Apple with Jobs nearly five decades ago, adds that Apple wasn’t in the business of predicting the future. Instead, it started with a focus on creating something better than the competition.

“We didn’t foresee the future the way it turned out, but we said for today, we’re taking a step forward ahead of others.”

Interview Details

The comments appeared in a segment that aired on CBS’s “Sunday Morning” program yesterday.

David Pogue, author of the new book Apple: The First 50 Years, interviewed Wozniak and other key players in Apple’s history for the piece.

Tim Cook’s Remarks

The CBS piece includes a portion of Pogue’s interview with Apple CEO Tim Cook. The full 20‑minute interview, in which Cook says Apple today is in a party of one, was published separately over the weekend.
